What to Pack

It'll Be Warm. And Sticky.

Here's a sample packing list of the essential items you'll need. More details are below.

If you've never been to Orlando in the summer, you're in for a treat. A hot, sticky treat. Expect daily high temperatures in the low 90s, and humidity around 65-70%. The bottom line is that you should pack light summer clothing made of breathable fabrics. Orlando is casual and so are we.

Evening temps will be a bit cooler but still humid. There will also be around a 50% chance of rain each day, so a light, packable rain jacket would be a smart item to carry. (We'll include an emergency poncho in your swag bag, just in case.)

Pack a swimsuit if you'd like to take a dip in the resort pool during our free time.

You'll probably want to carry a face mask, in case one is required on your flight or desired in the airport or at any other time.

You might also want to stock up on FanSided logo wear, including commemorative FanSided United shirts, in the Swag Shop. Everything in the FanSided United collection is 30% off until the event begins.

What's in the Swag Bag?

We'll have a bag full of goodies for you when you arrive, including:

  • FanSided insulated water bottle
  • Two FanSided hats
  • FanSided Yeti sticker
  • Sunscreen
  • Emergency rain poncho
  • Hand sanitizer
  • KN-95 mask (for volunteer shifts)
  • FanSided tote or drawstring bag
  • Name tag and lanyard

Dress Code for Special Olympics

Be sure you have your government-issued photo ID (driver license, etc) for packet pickup. Also, take a cell phone photo of the front (and back, if applicable) of your Covid vaccination card.

  • No jeans, leggings or jeggings.
  • Preferred bottoms: khakis, walking shorts, or skirts. The hem of whatever you wear should extend below your fingertips when your arms are at your sides. (What are walking shorts?)
  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes (preferably sneakers).
  • While masked, a KN-95 mask is preferred. (Included in your swag bag.)
  • No mirrored sunglasses, please. They can cause discomfort for some of the athletes.
  • A Special Olympics hat and shirt will be provided for you to wear during volunteering hours, as well as a credential badge. This hat is the only logo hat you can wear while volunteering.
  • Volunteers may wear their own small, non-logoed fanny pack, backpack, or shoulder bag. No lockers or storage are available.
